SO... we (being me, Jason, and Mamu -Bebe was at dance; we have the best Auntie EVER who takes her for me and then offered to bring her home this time so I wouldn't be a crazy woman trying to get to her before dance was over.) were driving on I35 to go get the van. We'd just dropped off the rental and were headed to the body shop.
(another note: Mamu sucks his two middle fingers on his right hand; has since he was about a month old; we're working on him only sucking them during bedtime to hopefully wean him off of them before he turns 20)
Mamu had his Ooh Ooh and was talking to Jason and I about his day at school. Then he got quiet and we heard the tell tell signs of finger sucking.
(Now that I've FINALLY set the scene, here is the ensuing conversation.)
Jason reminded him "No fingers".
Mamu: "I tired."
Jason: "We only use fingers when we are sleeping in bed."
Mamu: "I line leader today. No librarian (which is his most favorite job EVER!). Madison was librarian."
(seriously. He LOVES being the librarian. What does this entail? HE gets to pick a book out of Ms. Peggy's basket! Like, he gets pretty upset if someone else is librarian. We're working on that too.)
Me: "Did you have fun being line leader?" (Totally avoiding the librarian topic.)
Mamu: "I not librarian. It was bummer."
Me: "It's ok. Maybe you can be the librarian tomorrow."
Mamu: "Ok."
Me: "Why don't you sing 'Where is Thumbkin?'"
Mamu: (inspecting his fingers) "I only sing Thumbkin. No other fingers."
Me: "Ok."
--A few minutes pass by; no Thumbkin song...---
I turn to look back at Mamu. He's sucking on his fingers. He sees me look at him, takes his fingers out and says:
"I sleeping."
Well played my friend. Well played.
BTW- The van looks fabulous. She's happy to be home from her cosmetic surgery. Yes, I know this isn't the best picture of the van (it was taken in Feb.), but hey, we're not picky.

Another BTW: No, sadly he didn't get to be librarian today either. He was lunch helper. He did ok since he got to pass out the plates. Now don't go feeling too bad for him, he gets to be librarian like fifty times more than the other kids because he sweet talks Ms. Peggy.
Only 1 day left until I get to see this cutie! Notice the super dee duper cute hat her Auntie made for her!
